Custom Sofa

I created a concept of a backlit sofa and with the help of a carpenter was able to bring this vision to life. My clients in Brooklyn needed furniture sourced for their upstairs loft but the measurements made it tough to find a sofa and some sort of bench or chair under the window while still needing a coffee table, bookshelf and lighting. With their budget far from custom range I knew I had to get creative.. That's when I met Blu from a facebook group and went to his shop to discuss framing options. He had handmade wooden lamps in his studio and that was when the idea came to mind to blend light into the sofa frame itself. Once the clients were on board I sourced the fabric from Zarin fabrics and got to work hand sewing the cushions. All in all this was an incredible process and Blu has now shifted from lamps to backlit furniture as the requests after this project have been flooding in!
